Meet Zakieh
Zakieh Alahmad’s approach to therapy and life is deeply inspired by these words from master therapist Irvin D. Yalom: “To fully relate to another, one must first relate to oneself. If we cannot embrace our own aloneness, we will simply use the other as a shield against isolation.” She is passionate about guiding adults to deep self knowledge and compassion, which enables fulfilling connection in romantic relationships, friendships, and careers.
Zakieh is a true California girl and has lived in Los Angeles almost her entire life. She earned her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California and is fully trained in EMDR therapy, a powerful approach for healing trauma and emotional distress.
Zakieh’s training includes working at Respark Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on supporting survivors of sexual harm and trauma as well as those seeking a healthier relationship to sex. She also spent time at the Center for Professional Counseling, where she helped individuals and couples navigate a wide range of challenges. Through her role at CARE-LA in Century City, CA, she has extensive experience addressing anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), parenting concerns, and working with children and teens.
Before embarking on her journey as a psychotherapist, Zakieh worked in the equestrian sport of three-day eventing and trained as a sign language interpreter. These unique experiences have deeply enriched her therapeutic approach, and she continues to work with Deaf clients, now in the therapy space.
When she’s not working with clients, Zakieh loves spending time in nature—especially backpacking in alpine areas (fun fact: all of the photos on this website are taken by her on her outdoor adventures). She also enjoys reading, caring for her beloved dog and tortoise, spending time with loved ones, painting, and playing the saxophone.
